Winter Wetsuits - Secretspot choices / your choices

2018-wetty

Here at Secretspot we know a lot about wetsuits and surfing(if we do say so ourselves!). We have been around since 1989 serving firstly the NE surf community before expanding to a distribution network that today stretches all over Europe. From those first beginnings way back we have built long lasting relationships with all the major world renowned wetsuit brands. 28 years of hard work and commitment has put us in a position where all the premiere wetsuit brands are available to us here. Scrutiny is our strong point and a lot of time and effort goes into choosing all the winter wetsuits and accessories. We try to take into account many factors from stretch, ultimate warmth and to budget!

Being able to choose which wetsuit models adorn our shelves is a privilege in this industry but we ultimately believe our choices take everything into account and deliver the best products to you our customers from the worlds leading cold water surfing wetsuit manufacturers.

You will understand it is impossible to stock every model in the range, so we hand pick everything, taking into account performance, stretch, warmth, build quality and price. In our minds it makes no sense having five or six winter wetsuits all the same price and build quality, so in a nutshell we pick what we believe to be the best quality suits for the cold water surfer from entry level all the way to the top of the range. This in turn gives our customers a thorough choice from beginner to expert. Also, as one of the few bricks and mortor surf shops in the country, we have a full pick of the brands, in fact, we are the only surf shop in the country to have the selection of brands we do. Here below are some winners we have highlighted that we believe will be the ones to watch this coming winter - also below a few comments from our staff on what they wear and why. If in doubt pop in or drop us a line for a chat and we can explain in a bit more detail the benefits or features of the different models available.

Digga -  my suit is a Ripcurl Flashbomb Zipperless 5mm. I don't surf as much as some of the other guys through the depths of winter so no hood for me as I can pretty much use one suit all year. It's mega stretchy without the zip and easy to get in and out of pretty much perfect for the time I get in the water.

Carl - Being the resident surf instructor I use a Patagonia R4. I spend loads of time standing about in water and a lot of time carrying equipment up and down the hill of death at Cayton bay . I need a suit that's gonna keep me warm and the R4 is as robust as they come and takes some serious hammer.

Tomo - Being a bigger guy the Xcel infiniti is spot on. The Xcel suits seem to be more roomy around the shoulders and top of the arms which suits my shape more than other suits. Warm comfy and long lasting is the ticket here . Build quality is awesome and a long lasting product is Xcel's reputation.

Scotty - My choice is the Rip Curl Flashbomb 6/4 hooded. I'm in the water as much as possible. It has the best fit / comfort / warmth ratio of any suit on the market. It's a top end suit and fits my body shape perfect. I think it's the best all round suit on the market and Rip Curl's warranty is second to none. I guess that's why it wins wetsuit of the year by SIMA  (surf industry manufacturing awards)

Cade -  As the grom of the staff, I am in the water twice as much as everyone else so I need something durable so the O'Neill Psychotech is perfect as it's super flexy, super warm and super durable, it's an awesome suit!

Obviously we have a whole range of wetsuits in store and online and it's impossible to review them all today. Here's a quick run down on our key choices for winter 2017/2018.

The new dry lining introduced on this suit drys quicker for the next mornings freezing dawn patrol. Too many other numerous features to mention here. Will this be our best selling suit?? Quite possibly.
