SECRET SPOT REVIEW:
The Webber Fatburner 6'9 in it's SLX epoxy guise is a very versitle board both in terms of rider suitability and the type of conditions it excels in.
The Super Light Weight Epoxy finish aids performance and durability whilst the constant curve plan shape keeps turns smooth and precise. The nose rocker is subtle with enough flick in the last five inches to aid steeper take offs and progressive thinning to make duck diving do-able.
Over all this is a very forgiving shape that will be at home in both onshore dribble and decent 3-4ft surf allowing you to maximise conditions. The 6'9 would suit someone coming down from a 7'6 fun board or something simlar and would be equally suitable for an advanced surfer looking to catch more waves, maximise average conditions or float a heavier frame...either way this is a fast, responsive and progressive model from one of the worlds most highly respected shapers...
WEBBER REVIEW:
The new Fatburner has evolved into a slightly more subtle version of it's chunky former self. While the Afterburner has become more fishy, the new Fatburner has been refined by maintaining, but hiding the much desired volume into a much sexier package. The nose, tail and rails are a touch finer, yet the centre thickness is slightly increased to offset these refinements. This is a great paddling, easy riding, true fish shape, but with it's super smooth rocker and straighter tail plan shape there is a degree of hold uncommon in most fish shapes. This hold and stability makes for a surprising ride in bigger waves. The big guy's all rounder!
SLX: Lighter, stiffer and stronger. The SLX Epoxy Construction process combines conventional wisdom with the latest surfboard construction methods. Stringered EPS blanks, which ensure a stiff and familiar flex pattern, are precision shaped and glassed with Epoxy resin and fibreglass. The use of EPS in the core creates a significant reduction in weight allowing heavier gauge cloth in the lamination process.
The result is a surfboard with all the positive flex characteristics of a standard PU surfboard, with far greater strength and therefore durability. The improved lightness allows you to push your performance levels on a board that will outlast almost any custom board you can buy.
All surfboards are glassed with a 1 x 6oz and 1 x 4oz deck and 1 x 4oz bottom with a patch on the fin area.
